Baby Skeeter
From Muppet Wiki
Skeeter is Scooter's twin sister, seen mostly in cartoon form, mainly in Muppet Babies and Muppet Kids.
Skeeter was created for Muppet Babies in 1984. With Miss Piggy being the only major female character in The Muppet Show cast Skeeter was introduced as another female figure - an athletic young girl, Skeeter balances Piggy's ultra-feminine role.
Like most major female Muppets, Skeeter was always voiced by a male actor. As seen in the box on the right, Howie Mandel first performed her from 1984-1986, then Frank Welker took over from 1986-1990.
Skeeter appeared in poser form in the books Muppet Babies' Classic Children's Tales and Muppet Babies' Classic Nursery Rhymes. Skeeter never existed in puppet form.
Kid Skeeter
A pre-teen Skeeter, appeared in many Muppet Kids books and products.
Skeeter has rarely appeared as a grown-up: once on a Carl's Jr. Muppet Parade of Stars Toys promotional bag and a cameo in the Muppet Pick-Me-Up Book You've Still Got Me.
In MuppetZine issue 3 (1993), Muppet Babies storyboard director Scott Shaw! wrote: "As for the adult Skeeter, Henson Associates art director Michael Frith once explained that she's now a famous explorer, never seen again after an expedition to the jungles of the Amazon!"
Relationship With Other Characters
- Baby Scooter: Scooter is Skeeter's twin brother and though they usually get along they sometimes show signs of sibling rivelry. Skeeter will often call Scooter a nerd.
- Baby Kermit: Skeeter has a crush on Kermit and although it is not as prominent as Baby Gonzo's crush on Piggy it clearly exists
- Baby Piggy: Piggy and Skeeter will often fight for the affection of Kermit or feminine roles. Examples of this can be seen in Episode 206: Snow White and the Seven Muppets where they fight over the role of Snow White and in Episode 417: Masquerading Muppets where Skeeter is jealouse that Piggy "alway's get's to be queen."
