The Word of the Day first appeared in Sesame Street’s 38th season and was seen again in the 39th season. The segment highlights a particular word introduced before the show with What's the Word on the Street? In the 39th season, the muppet characters, usually Elmo, would usually interupt the celebrities' conversation for something that has to do with the word.
